Vacuum Casting is a widely used technology capable of producing parts in a rang of selected polyurethanes that are similar to rubber, PP, ABS, and PC. These materials typically offer the possibility to match colors and cast transparent components. These materials can be either soft, flexible, or extremely rigid depending on the property of material used. Casting resins can also be painted or pigmented to get the custom color. It is also possible to make parts that are smooth, textured, or frosted according to clients’ requirements.
When a new product is in R & D stage,design review and a prototype is usually needed to evaluate the design and to minimum possible loss caused by imperfect design. Before mass production of general products, plastic parts will be produced in small batches in advance to test product performance and market demand. If it is a small batch production, the process is to choose the silicone molding vacuum casting, because this process is suitable for one-time molding of complex structure workpieces, effectively shortening the development time and saving research and development costs. Compared with 3D printing, the plastic parts made by the vacuum casting are more durable.
